Refund Policy

Refund Policy for Lit Review Outline on Literature Review AI
Oct 10, 2026

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This policy applies to purchases of Lit Review Outline on Literature Review AI. Payments are processed by Creem, our merchant of record; approved refunds go back to your original payment method through Creem. Free tools have nothing to refund.

1. Why processing starts right away

Your project is processed as soon as payment is confirmed, usually within minutes. By then the AI processing and data costs for your project have been spent, and payment processing fees are not returned to us when a payment is refunded. When you pay, you ask us to start immediately. That is why what you get back depends on why you ask.

2. Beta refunds: three cases

While Lit Review Outline is labeled Beta, refunds work as follows. If more than one case applies, the one that is better for you applies.

A. Something failed on our side: free re-run or full refund

This case applies when, after you started processing:

  • processing stopped with an error and no topic map or no outline was produced; or
  • your project made no progress for more than 24 hours; or
  • you were charged but your project was not unlocked, or you were charged twice.

Our system records these failures, so you do not need to prove them. You choose a free re-run or a full refund. You can ask at any time while the project is available (30 days after purchase).

These are not failures on our side: files that cannot be read (for example scanned images without a text layer or password-protected PDFs, which the free pre-check flags before you pay); topics marked "can't tell" because open scholarly databases have limited coverage of them; and results limited by the papers you uploaded.

B. A confirmed quality problem: we fix it first, then refund in full if we can't

This case applies within 14 days of purchase when we confirm at least one of these in the outline we delivered:

  • a quote is not on the page it is cited to, or not in the cited paper at all;
  • a point or draft sentence is not supported by the evidence it cites;
  • a point, sentence or quote is attributed to the wrong paper.

To use it, flag each wrong item with the flag next to it in your outline, then send a refund request. We check every flagged item against the page text of your PDFs. If we confirm a problem, we first fix it with a free corrected re-run within 2 business days. If the re-run does not fix the confirmed problems, we refund in full.

These are not quality problems: preferring a different structure or set of themes, the writing style of draft text, wanting more or different papers, "can't tell" labels, and minor wording. Those fall under case C.

C. Not satisfied for another reason: $20 back

Within 7 days of purchase, if you are not satisfied for any other reason, we refund $20 of the $29 price. The remaining $9 covers the processing and payment costs already spent on your project. This is available once per customer.

3. What every refund request must include

Send your request with Request a refund at the bottom of your project page (signed in with the account that paid), or by email with the same information. We need:

  • which case applies (A, B or C) and the step where the problem happened;
  • what you expected to get;
  • what exactly was wrong or missing (the section, topic or paper, where possible);
  • what you planned to use the outline for;
  • for case B, the items you flagged in the outline.

We use these answers to check your request and to fix the product. We cannot process a request until it includes them. We reply within 3 business days.

4. Conditions and limits

  • A refund closes the project. Once any refund is issued, full or partial, your access to the project ends and its content is deleted. It cannot be restored or unlocked again.
  • One person, one case C refund. Using several accounts, shared purchases or repeated purchase-and-refund cycles to get more refunds is not allowed.
  • Windows are counted from the time of purchase. Requests after the windows above qualify only under case A, or where the law requires a refund.
  • Amounts are the price before tax. Creem returns any tax charged on the refunded amount.
  • Abuse. If a request is clearly abusive, for example false claims or the patterns described above, we may decline it, close the account and refuse future purchases. Refunds required by law are never declined.
  • Chargebacks. Please contact us before opening a chargeback; we can usually fix or refund faster. If you open a chargeback, the project is locked while the dispute is open, and we may give Creem and your card issuer the records of your order, your agreement to this policy at checkout, and how your project was processed and used. We may close accounts that open chargebacks without contacting us first.

5. After the Beta

When the Beta label is removed, cases B and C end for new purchases (purchases made during the Beta keep them). A purchase is then non-refundable once processing has begun, except under case A or where the law requires a refund. Before you pay, you can try the free demo cases and the in-browser PDF pre-check.

6. How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are issued through Creem to your original payment method, usually within 3 business days of approval. Card issuers usually show them 5–10 business days later. Contact: .

Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law. For customers in the EU, EEA or UK: by asking us to start processing immediately, you agree that your 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services ends once processing has begun. During the Beta, Section 2 still applies.

8. Changes

We may update this policy for future purchases. The version shown when you bought a project applies to that purchase.
