Terms of Service

Terms of Service for Literature Review AI, including Lit Review Outline
Oct 10, 2026

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Literature Review AI at literaturereviewai.online (the "Service"), operated by the Literature Review AI team ("we", "us"). By creating an account, buying a product or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, to our Privacy Policy and to our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What the Service does

The Service includes:

  • Lit Review Outline (paid): you upload PDFs you already have and, optionally, your bibliography. The Service extracts verbatim evidence with page references, maps the topics your library covers, suggests papers you may have missed within the search scope you set, and produces an outline for a dissertation literature review chapter, with Word and Excel exports. While the product is labeled Beta, features, limits and quality checks may change.
  • Free tools and demo cases: free features, such as the in-browser PDF pre-check, demo cases and any free generator offered on the site, are provided as they are and may be changed or discontinued at any time.

The Service is a research and writing aid. It does not write your dissertation for you, it is not affiliated with any university, and it does not guarantee any grade, approval or publication outcome.

2. Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement, or have a parent or guardian's permission. You sign in with a third-party account (such as Google). You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us promptly at if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the files, bibliographies, questions and other material you provide ("Your Content"), and of the outlines and exports produced for you, subject to the rights of the authors of the works you upload and quote.
  • You confirm that you have the right to use Your Content for your own research (for example, PDFs you obtained lawfully through your library, open access or the authors), and that uploading it does not break any law or agreement.
  • You allow us to process Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, including sending excerpts to the AI and scholarly-data providers listed in our Privacy Policy. We do not use Your Content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
  • Original PDF files are parsed in your browser; we store only the extracted page text and related project data, and delete them as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Academic integrity and AI output

  • Outputs are produced with the help of AI and automated matching. They can be incomplete or wrong. Quotes, page numbers, summaries, suggested papers and draft sentences must be checked against the original sources before you rely on them.
  • Draft paragraphs are marked "AI draft — for reference only." Submitting them as your own work may violate your institution's academic integrity rules. You are solely responsible for what you submit, for disclosing AI assistance as your institution requires, and for complying with your program's policies.
  • "Papers you may have missed" are leads within the search scope shown in your project, not a claim that your review is complete.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for unlawful purposes, or upload content you have no right to use, or content that is malicious, infringing or illegal;
  • resell the Service or its outputs as a writing, contract-cheating or ghostwriting service;
  • scrape, overload, reverse-engineer or bypass the limits and security of the Service, or access other users' data;
  • share purchased access with others or create accounts to evade limits or refund rules.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, without refund where the breach is serious.

6. Prices, payment and limits

  • Lit Review Outline is a one-time purchase per project in US dollars, at the price shown at checkout. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal. Taxes are calculated at checkout.
  • Payments are processed by Creem, which acts as our merchant of record and appears on your statement. Creem's Buyer Terms also apply to your payment.
  • Each project has the usage limits shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase (for example, the number of PDFs and bibliography entries, one round of supplement suggestions, and a set number of outline regenerations). A purchased project stays available for 30 days after purchase; please export what you need before it expires, because project data is then deleted.
  • Processing starts immediately after payment. Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy. Price changes never affect a purchase you have already completed.
  • If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first; we answer within 3 business days.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, including Beta features. If we discontinue a paid product, projects you have already bought will either be delivered or refunded.

8. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all outputs are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, academic penalties or missed deadlines, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, for example for liability caused by intent or gross negligence.

10. Indemnity

You agree to compensate us for reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) resulting from your breach of these Terms or from Your Content infringing someone else's rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Sections 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

Please contact us first; most issues can be solved by email. These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator of the Service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims in its courts.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email or in the product. Changes do not apply retroactively to purchases already made.
